The House of the Turtles is often referred to as a "gem" of Puuc-style architecture. In its own way; it is a kind of gem; sitting quietly in an afternoon sun's glow on the northern end of the platform of the Governor's House. It overlooks the Nunnery Complex; the Ballcourt; and the House of the Magician. Its symmetry and proportionality add to the sense of tranquility; its veneer masonry is simple yet impeccable.
